BFK Rescue is a non-profit organization for the rescue of Bichon Frises and other small dogs from animal shelters or who can no longer live with their original guardians. In 2009 BFK volunteers rescued over 300 Bichons and small mixed breeds from animal shelters throughout California and placed them in loving, responsible forever homes. Before adoption, each FurKid was groomed, chipped, and provided vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and medical attention as needed. Major veterinary surgeries were required to save the lives of a number of our FurKids and many required extensive veterinary services to improve their quality of life. Our FurKids are housed with a caring volunteer foster family until a permanent home can be found, no matter how long it takes - sometims just overnight and sometimes over six months for surgical recuperation. BFK relies solely on donations, fundraising events and adoption fees to cover the cost of food, medical supplies and veterinary expenses to continue our operation. We receive no government financial support and are not affiliatee with any other animal rescue group.
